Community Manager – North America

Are you someone who wants to make the world a better place, who is not content to work for yet another company the world doesn't need?

Our mission

At Diet Doctor, we are a health company that aims to empower people everywhere to dramatically improve their health. We focus on lifestyle interventions — not medication or surgery.

What are the important components of a healthy lifestyle for those with obesity or type 2 diabetes? How can people implement this lifestyle in a sustainable way?

Currently, no major health organization in the world has an effective answer. We aim to change that.

Progress

  • We are self-funded, and have no VC investment. Instead, our employees are invited to become co-owners via our employee-stock-offering plan.
  • We're the largest keto and low-carb site in the world.
  • We’re fully funded by our members, which means we don't need to show any ads or sell any physical products.
  • We attract about 9 million monthly visits, have 78,000+ paying members, and 60+ employees (from 20+ different nationalities).
  • We're the top-ranked nutrition website in the world on Trustpilot and have strong Glassdoor ratings.

Our culture

At Diet Doctor, we aim to always align our work with our four company values: trustworthiness, simplicity, inspiration, and goodness.

Our goal is to make the world a better place by empowering people everywhere to dramatically improve their health.

We believe building a team of top performers — who live by our values and get great things done fast — will significantly increase our ability to make rapid progress toward our purpose.

That’s why we're passionate about building a world-class team. Few things in life are as exciting and rewarding as working toward meaningful change alongside other like-minded people.

The challenge

Our customers are on a mission to improve their health through changing what and how they eat. Doing that isn't easy. Your job, along with the rest of the Community team, is to support them on this journey to better health. You are excited to passionately learn more about our users, provide them with an exceptional low-carb community, and deliver first-class support every step of the way.

As our Community Manager, you will be at the heart of the action. You represent their needs and you are the first line of support – listen with an empathetic ear, share their feedback and insight with the team to better our product, and help us to grow the engaging and safe space we have created.

What you'll do

  • Lead our Diet Doctor community – currently, we are a lively Facebook group bringing our customers together from across the globe, but over the next year we plan to transition our community to our site. You will be tasked to grow and engage our community members and help us build the future.
  • Day-to-day monitoring, content creating, and supporting our member-only Diet Doctor Facebook group and volunteer group.
  • Help implement and promote various community initiatives.
  • Build trust and rapport with members by showing goodness and honesty in communication.
  • Address member needs with kindness and care to achieve satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with all teams to inform of member needs and problems.
  • Assist with volunteer moderator training and development in addition to building a Diet Doctor Ambassador program.
  • As our group members are primarily located in the US, you should be located in North America to support these time zones.

What's in it for you?

  • Meaningful work: The opportunity to work alongside a team of hardworking editorial experts while having autonomy over a wide range of highly impactful responsibilities. An added plus? Diet Doctor’s mission is to help people everywhere to dramatically improve their health.
  • Meaningful relationships: Be part of a driven, ambitious, yet kind culture filled with people who want to do good in the world. We try to optimize our teams' happiness by keeping track of employee satisfaction (Officevibe), using a minimalist workflow process (Kanban), minimizing meetings, and allowing for long uninterrupted blocks of work time.
  • Rapid growth:  We'll give you opportunities to make impactful decisions, while also providing the support you need to do great things and learn fast. We encourage growth and the company will cover the cost of courses or conferences you want to attend.
  • Great compensation: We offer a competitive salary, overtime pay, and the opportunity to own a meaningful part of the company through our employee-stock-offering plan (no vesting period, and you're able to keep the shares as long as you want).

Who you are

  • A natural leader. Our team and volunteers will be looking to you to take our community to the next level.
  • Experience with community management. You have built a top-class community before and are excited to bring your expertise to our community.
  • Passionate about low-carb or keto lifestyles and health.
  • A multi-tasker – you love taking on challenges.
  • Flawless in spoken and written English.
  • Located in North America, ideally GMT-6 or GMT-7.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced and unstructured environment. You can work independently and accomplish tasks fast while upholding our high standards.
  • Calm, cool, and collected. You handle stress with ease and have a way with people.
  • Optimist who loves problem solving and has a talent for making people happy.
  • Willing to be available for non-traditional work hours, including weekends.
  • Able to work from home with reliable, high-speed Internet connection.
  • Currently eat some version of low carb or keto, and believe in its benefits.
  • You are any age, nationality, gender identification, religion, etc. We welcome a diversity of people, backgrounds and experiences.

Our rocketship

At Diet Doctor, you have the opportunity to join a rapidly growing startup that is already very profitable and successful.

During the last five years, our company has on average more than doubled in size every year, with zero venture capital, while staying profitable. This makes our company unique. DietDoctor.com is now visited by half a million people per day, and we have more than 75,000 paying members, who rate us very highly.

But this is still just the early beginning, most of our challenges are still ahead of us. LEARN MORE
